What is a Resource?

  • A resource is any document or weblink that can assist teachers to deliver learning outcomes for their students.

  • The best resources are lesson plans, activities, programs or units of work you have written that complement the school curriculum

  • Resources can be written by other people or organisations, but need to have copyright that allows distribution for non commercial, educational purposes

  • Resources submitted to this website need to explore a topic related to sustainability (eg environmental education, social justice, renewable energy)

  • Resources are usually word or PDF files - but cna be any file type.

  • Resources are grouped as either

    • Activity – short lesson plan or group activity

    • Case study – a real life story and example of something sustainable
    • Lesson plan - group of activities and content for a class
    • Teaching programs/unit – formal teaching program that guides a teacher through several weeks of teaching
    • Factsheets – simple handouts on a particular topic that relates to sustainability.
    • Information booklet – larger than a factsheet in that it contains many pages.
    • Presentations – slide shows and PowerPoints™
    • Toolkits – resource kit containing many resources around a particular subject
    • Policy documents – appropriate and latest related national and international guidelines and policy for reference
    • Teacher training kits – professional development kits for teachers in education for sustainability
    • News articles – interesting news articles that can be used as a resource for teaching
    • Research papers – academic research related to education for sustainability as a reference for teachers
    • Excursion info – details of a place to take your students that showcases sustainability in practice
    • Weblink  - Useful website with teaching tools related to sustainability.
