Aims and objectives

The Sustainable Living Challenge aims to encourage young people to raise their awareness, engage their minds and develop their skills to be better able to respond to the challenge of sustainability in their future personal and professional lives.

The objectives of the Sustainable Living Challenge are to:

  • encourage students to explore their capacity to respond to environmental and sustainability issues as a part of their school experience
  • assist teachers over time to enhance their teaching through providing an engaging inquiry based program that compliments the school curriculum
  • recognise the existing efforts of secondary students, their teachers and schools that are actively engaging in individual, group of whole school projects relevant to sustainability issues.

The Sustainable Living Challenge positions sustainability as the ultimate challenge for future decision makers and the biggest challenge facing young people and their communities today.

The program encourages inquiry across a spectrum of multidisciplinary issues relating to sustainable living. The program is free and is a unique vehicle for students, teachers and schools to profile their sustainability initiatives.

Every participating student, teacher and school receives a recognition certificate for their role in tackling the biggest challenge facing us today - the challenge of creating the sustainable future.
