Our new online registration system allows you as a teacher, to register and manage your Sustainable Living Challenge project(s) on our website.  To register for 2007 or to receive information on the program, simply go to:

www.sustainableliving.com.au/register
(or click on the icon on the left of the home page)

Manage your involvement online
The new system makes the process of taking part in the Sustainable Living Challenge much simpler.  Once you have registered, you will receive a welcome email with instructions for logging in to the SLC website.  You can then log in to your own personalised space on our website.

  • Enter details of your sustainability projects
    Once logged in you will be taken to your personalised folder where you can add brief details of your project or projects.
  • Enter student names for certificates
    You can add the names of all students involved in each sustainability project to ensure they receive the recognition they deserve.  This data will be used to print their recognition certificates once you submit your project at the end of October.
  • Print your own project cover sheet
    When all your project and student details have been added and you are ready to submit your project, you simply print a project cover sheet to attach to the front of your submission before sending it to us.
  • Check your results as they come in
    You will then be able to check your results by logging in as soon as they are ready in November each year.

Not familiar with the program?
The Sustainable Living Challenge is an annual program that has been engaging secondary schools across Australia in taking on the challenge of undertaking sustainability projects in their school.  It started in 1998 and is partnered with the United Nations Environment Programme.  The Sustainable Living Challenge:

  • Fosters, supports and recognises innovative teaching and learning;
  • Inspires and extends students at all levels by encouraging them to consider how they can ‘make a difference’;
  • Connects key teachers to a national network of teachers and schools working on sustainability projects;
  • Differentiates your school as being actively involved in the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2004 – 2014);
  • Provides free ongoing support to assist teachers and foster learning outcomes;
  • Acts as an umbrella program – all sustainability projects undertaken are relevant (even with other programs);
  • Enhances and invigorates teaching by providing significance and context for learning;
  • Values all projects through emphasising learning and participation over competition;
  • Provides avenues for internal, local and state recognition at many levels – every project is celebrated from small first steps upwards;
  • National awards and prizes for outstanding work,
  • Provides a platform for integrated and cross curricular units;
  • Supports the crucial link back to teaching and learning for any sustainability activity in your school.
