| Description: | This unit of work involves the students learning about and gaining skills in architectural design. The design and construction of the dwellings that humans live in (human habitats OR “Humanitats”) is a fundamental area of design that has been practised for 1000’s of years. Even though a number of these students may graduate to become architects or house designers, these skills are often called upon in life when building, buying or renovating a house. The students will be introduced to the current research on Ecological Sustainable Design. As well as these, the students will learn about the history of architectural design in Australia, develop skills in reading and drawing architectural plans, experiment with designing their own dwellings and make architectural models of their design solutions. |
